Present Continuous (Presente Contínuo)

O Present Continuous forma-se com o verbo to be + verbo principal acrescido da partícula ing.

Affirmative Form (Forma Afirmativa)

I am writing.                 Eu estou escrevendo.

You are talking.            Você está falando.

He is dining.                  Ele está jantando.

She is commanding.       Ela está comandando.

It is raining                     Está chovendo.

We are playing.              Nós estamos brincando.

You are if embracing.     Vocês estão se abraçando.

They are only getting.     Eles/Elas estão somente ficando.

O Present Continuous sempre indica uma ação que está acontecendo neste momento.

I am washing the ware.                Eu estou lavando a louça.

You are talking with Paul.            Você está conversando com o Paulo.

It is raining.                                  Está chovendo.

We are going to beach.                Nós estamos indo para a praia.

They are playing soccer.              Eles/Elas estão jogando futebol.

Negative and question forms (Formas negativas e pergunta)

O Present Continuous na forma negativa é formado colocando-se not depois do verbo to be.

Afirmativa

I was getting bullets.                           Eu estava conseguindo balas.

Negativa

I was not getting  bullets.                    Eu não estive conseguindo balas.

Afirmativa

She was if falling for me.                     Ela estava se apaixonando por mim.

Negativa 

She was not if falling for me.               Ela não estava se apaixonando por mim.

Afirmativa

We were celebrating yesterday.          Nós estávamos comemorando ontem.

Negativa

We were not celebrating yesterday.    Nós não estivemos comemorando ontem.  

Afirmativa

You were burning the waste.              Você estava queimando o lixo.

Negativa

You were not burning the waste.        Você não estava queimando o lixo.

O Present Continuous na forma interrogativa coloca-se o verbo to be antes do sujeito. 

Is she singing?           Ela está cantando?

Are you hurting?        Você está machucando?

Are we eating?          Nós estamos comendo?

Are you jumping?      Vocês estão pulando?

Is it raining?               Está chovendo?
